The Golden Tablet of Schooling

Describe something you learned in high school.

The spirit of KALAGA

Though it’s common belief that education is synonymous to schooling, I take ample freedom of thought to venture out to a more tangible truth. Education does not completely  manifest itself in school though it apparently is, while you learn subjects that are of due significance to have you embark on lucrative careers later in life.

The real manifestation of education happens only later in life while reminiscing about  your old school memories almost like a butterfly sipping on nectar from a flower.

“Schooling is a book that you write while in school and meant to be read for the rest of your life. The quality of writing this book and quality of studying it everyday amounts to your complete education.”

KALAGA LM JAYARAJ

As quoted, the book you write while in school is the set of experiences that are etched on a mind devoid of prejudices, hatred and lust making it a golden souvenir that you carry with you forever. The book contains everything from the classroom andthe school bell to every grain of sand in the playground.

By the time you’re an adult, you find great joy in flipping through those pages of wisdom.

Here’s how it feels like reading that book:

I am most privileged to have studied in an all boys school run by Jesuit missionaries dating back to the time when the British ruled India.

“Back then, we were caned for not being punctual, for not being tidy, for back answering the teacher and for things that were not becoming of a student though the rule of ‘No Cane’ in educational institutions was only introduced later. Ironically, the proverb that stands tall and relevant to the present times going by- Spare the rod and spoil the child stays unscathed without fringes of consequent human amendment.

However when I look back and see now, the wisdom that shines from my golden tablet of schooling suggests that not a single student was ever punished or flogged for being himself.

That is the highest order of Freedom and Respect the school had bestowed upon it’s pupils.”

I grew up as a rebel right since school though I was left to be that way, unjudged with every teacher offering their best in love ,support and teaching that always makes me feel indebted to them in honour of their esteemed accord as my teachers.

Not a single day did any of us feel we were in a training camp and were all the more joyful, excelling in our endeavours all through those years of growth and maturity at High school. For our teachers knew that every personality is unique and to educate someone without affecting their sense of individuality marks and scales new heights in educational standards.
